The Deftones returned to Indianapolis after a two-year wait with support from Gojira and VOWWS on Tuesday night. The Australian duo VOWWS, which is based in Los Angeles took the stage with their ‘Death-Pop’ sound to kick off the evening of music at the TCU Amphitheater. Up next the French heavy metal quartet Gojira started their set behind a large white curtain and once it dropped the band showcased their aggressive post-metal thrashing sound. It was the perfect build-up for the headliner.

The Deftones started their set with the single Genesis from their 2020 album Ohms. Chino Moreno’s vocals were on full display showing off his signature scream. The only other track from the new album was the title track Ohms. The band mixed in a great list with a ton of on-stage energy, which the crowd feed off of all night.

Kris Myers’ Slay Ride – Brooklyn Bowl Nashville

All Photos By Roger Patteson/Type 2 Photography

Umphrey’s McGee drummer and Nashville resident, Kris Meyers, put on a star studded event at the Brooklyn Bowl Nashville on Sunday 12/19/21. This one stage mini festival contained local and national performers. The event was a fundraiser for Sharing Stops Suffering, an organization set up to provide awareness and resources for mental health needs within the community. $400 was raised Sunday night, a small but modest and helpful step towards addressing what is a major need in society. This holiday themed jams session featured nothing but smile, original content, covers, and huge stage arrangements. The event is already in planning stages for a return in 2022.
