Last night I caught Big Thief on their Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You tour.
The last time I had seen the band perform live was in 2017 at the Solid Sound Music Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. So I knew the show would be a treat to catch in my backyard at the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre.

The Brooklyn, New York-based opener Nick Hakim was a perfect fit with his soulful, moody delivery. Be sure to check him out opening for Reyes Blood at the Vogue on August 29, later this summer.

My favorite moment was the performance of Change during the encore. The crowd was still as Adrianne Lenker sang quietly about embracing the inevitable changes in life, including death. It was such a moving performance that I wouldn’t soon forget.
