An Evening With Wilco Tour
Photo Gallery: Wilco
Saturday night in Louisville felt like a perfect evening, with cool breezes and the unmistakable energy of a crowd eager to be wrapped in Wilco’s sonic embrace. At the historic Iroquois Amphitheater, the beloved Chicago-based band delivered a two-set performance that was equal parts reflective and electric, marking their final stop before heading abroad.
Frontman Jeff Tweedy was in high spirits throughout the night. His laid-back charisma anchored a band firing on all cylinders—seasoned, sharp, and deeply connected to its material. From the opening pulse of “Spiders (Kidsmoke)” to the encore finale of “Outtasite (Outta Mind),” the evening was a carefully crafted journey through the band’s ever-evolving catalog.
Guitarist Nels Cline stole multiple moments with his trademark shredding, most notably during a breathtaking version of “Impossible Germany” with the crowd erupting mid-solo. Mikael Jorgensen added subtle textures on keys all night, enriching songs like “Many Worlds” and “Quiet Amplifier” with ambient layers. Longtime bassist John Stirratt was the steady heartbeat of the group, while Pat Sansone broke out with scorching guitar solos during the second set, most notably on “Bird Without a Tail/Base of My Skull.”
Louisville gave Wilco a warm send-off before they take a brief pause and gear up for tour legs in South America and the UK later this month. They will eventually return to U.S. stages in the fall.
In a three-decade career, Wilco still makes every performance feel like a special occasion—and on this particular night, under the stars in Kentucky, it absolutely was.
